As a variation of the check fraud scheme, and why I put my business mail into the drop in the Post Office building....
Last year in the Myrtle Beach SC newpaper they were explaining how certain people would steal personal checks from the outbound mail in people's mailboxes. The mailboxes with the nice little red flags that let the mailman know to stop and pick up the contents were a dead giveaway to these guys. They'd steal the mail then, using a valid checking account number from the checks found in the stolen mail, go to the local bank branch, through the drive-thru, ask for a deposit slip on the account, and then deposit a check for say $500 with $250 going back to them.
Not cool at all...... |

Yup, anyone from Nigeria buying an electric anything sounds fishy to me. You see, over 80% of the country doesn't even have electricity, and less than 1% of the population has a telephone!
"Hey Motubewah, plug my push pull into that goat over there, and let's see how it sounds!" (LOL!)

my wife just got an email from (supposatly) UK Lottery telling her email address was attached to a wining ticket and she won 120K.They will even put the real link to the original UK lottery web site and everything matches but a date of drowing. This is one of the finest scams I`ve seen.Watch for this one.We are replying to the email and as soon as we get answer it will be reported to authoroties (on the Ebay site is few links where you can turn those scambags in to FBI and other services).

The U.S. government usually can't do anything with a foreigner who practices his internet crimes from outside the U.S. or it's territories. That's why they just keep coming. I received the "lottery" thing in the email myself about 3 times in the last month. I trashed it on the basis of the subject line alone.
Lotteries, the legitimate ones anyway, generate their prize money from those who "participate", that is, buy a ticket. Needless to say, if you don't buy tickets to foreign lotteries, there's absolutely no chance of your winning one.
These email scams prey upon the innocent. Fortunately, you have to be both innocent and stupid to fall for most all of 'em. Just remember that old saying..."If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". |

It's the guys at the top offices that are "alleged" to have done dirty deeds. Something to do with a mis-placed $180 Million and a Nigeriean gas liquifaction plant.
The HAL employees I know are all bustin' their butts for a wage like you and me. I have the highest respect for the red/orange jumpsuits pumping cement & frac'in wells. [This message was edited by Ray Minich on 09 September 2004 at 09:27 AM.] |
