I've looked at the tunings on the unofficial website, but they seem a bit odd to me. The "Doxology" tuning, for example, is listed as C/g G/d C/g E/b G/d C/g (capital letters being the bass strings, as judged by listening to the recording). I admit I haven't tried tuning my guitar this way yet, but right off the bat it doesn't seem right to me.

For example, when he's playing the top string it sounds to me like two thin strings unison tuned to C, not like a C and a G being played together.

Also, having that D on the fifth string would surely be getting in the way when strumming a full chord (D's are always getting in the way though, aren't they? ), something he does seem to be doing in several places. Unless he's somehow not hitting that D note when he strums, which I suppose is possible.

On either Roll Away the Stone or See that my Grave is Kept Clean there do seem to be some notes that wouldn't fit into a standard C or D tuning but I'm not sure that the tunings as listed are correct. Any comments?

There are some good sound clips on this site, too.
