I just started messing around with the Derailers tune "More Of Your Love" from their first CD, "Here Come The Derailers." (Liner notes indicate Marty Muse on steel.)

The song starts with the chorus, then the first verse, then the chorus again. At the end of the second chorus there is a lead guitar solo then a steel solo. At the end of the steel solo there is an arpeggiated chord thing that I can't figure out. I believe the chord is "G".

Hi Mark,
I just gave this a quick listen and I'm away from my steel, but (assuming this is in the key of G) I believe this is all being done at the fifteenth fret, working down from the B on string (3 to the B on string 6. The bend from F# to E in the middle of this could be a full stop lower on string 2 (likely) or possibly those notes are taken on string 5 at the seventeenth fret (on then off the A pedal; in which case the first three notes--B-A-G could all be on strings 1-4-2 at the seventeenth fret, but I doubt it). I really think this is all at fret fifteen, since there is a lot of ring through from picked strings, implying the bar doesn't move.

The last little part is just and A and B pedal lick at fret fifteen.

Of course, as I said, I am not at my steel, so someone may be able to get a more accurate reading (i.e., I may be completely off base and shouldn't try to shoot off transcriptions away from the instrument!!!) I'll check it out at the steel tonight.

You should ask forum member Chris Schlotzhauer. He is the current Derailers steel player and a real nice guy. I'll bet he knows and would pass it on.

Well,

here's what I got anyway:

F#|-----15|-------------------------|-----------------|
D#|-------|----15~15k---------------|-----------------|
G#|--15---|-------------------------|-----------------|
E |-------|-15-----------------15---|-15--------------|
B |-------|----------15------15-----|-15--------------|
G#|-------|------------15~15B----15B|-15--------------|
F#|-------|-------------------------|-----------------|
E |-------|-------------------------|-----------------|
D |-------|-------------------------|-----------------|
B |-------|-------------------------|-----------------|

the K on string 2 would be a whole step lower. If one doesn;t have that change, the slur could be moved to string 5 (starting witht he A pedal down).

Yep, that's it. The thing that confused me was the opening triplet; it sounded to me like a descending "rake" across the strings with one finger...

Thanks!

Cool! Thanks Dan.

Another good Derailers tune is "Waltz of the Angels". That tab is at This Link.

Hey Guys. I don't come over here much, but I happen to see this thread. Cool. I havn't played that song in a couple of years since Tony left. I do dig that tune. Dan pretty much nailed that lick on the last two bars of the solo. That was done originally by Marty Muse. Good job Dan.
