I've read on this forum how the "string-through" pickup is the desirable Valco pickup, but I'm not exactly sure which pickup this is supposed to be. Can someone point me to a picture of one of these "string-through" pickups?

Travis: Here's an image of the pickup on a Supro Comet, from a current eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2511449780&category=33040

I've got one just like it and love the sound. I wish they had made one in a 8 string.

They did make it in an 8 string. I had one as a kid, it was a console guitar, black and white, looked like a 58 Impala. A little over a year ago I had a six string in the same 2 tone and console. That baby did rip with some overdrive. I have a double 8 National now and while it is a much better instrument, it does not have the same bite, even though it came out of the same factory.
