Hi, I'm a big fan of Curley and I'd love to be able to play like him. The gutting sound is done by putting your volume pedal down, hitting the strings, and backing off on the pedal really quick. I believe he used the grip where you use your second finger, skip a string, first finger, skip two strings and use your thumb. I think he went down the neck in half steps using that grip on different strings, just going from chord to chord. Hope I've helped. Larry

This does not have much to do with TAB but, try a Forum search for volume "Gutting". The term is used on Curly's Hall of Fame plaque:
