I got a gig coming up next weekend and I've been working so much lately I haven't had time to practice. The song I've been asked to learn is Cadillac Tears by Kevin Denney. It's a twin sounding intro with lead guitar but I'm missing too many notes. Please Help.Tony [This message was edited by Tony Chavez on 06 November 2003 at 09:11 PM.] |

I'd be interested in seeing this tab as well. I learned the intro and turn without a guitar player and what I play sorta captures the flavor, with a piece here and there kinda close, but that's about it.
BTW, if you listen really close to what Mike Johnson plays on this cut it'll knock you out. Subtle, but really on top of it. |

Sure Tony, we did it in the original key (D maybe?), but I haven't played it in a while. I'll have to sit down tonite at home and figure out what I did again.

Well I listened again and it turns out it's not really all that close. Good luck... Here's an MP3 if you want to hear what it sounds like at tempo.

This is what I came up with after a quick listen. Not sure if the steel plays only single notes or some harmonized parts somewhere. At least this is what I thought I heard...
G A7 D
F#|------------------------------------------------------|
D#|------------------------------------------------------|
G#|------------------------------------------------------|
E |------------------------------------------------------|
B |------------------5A----5---5~5A---5A---8---8~~5--5A--|
G#|---------3~~5--5B---------5------5B-------8-----------|
F#|------3-----------------------------------------------|
E |-2--3-------------------------------------------------|
D |------------------------------------------------------|

A7 D
F#|------------------------------------------------------|
D#|------------------------------------------------------|
G#|------------------------------------------------------|
E |----------5-------------------------------------------|
B |-----5/5A----6A~5A-----5/5A~~5------------------------|
G#|--5B---------------5B-------------5~~~3----5~~~1------|
F#|------------------------------------------------------|
E |------------------------------------------------------|
D |------------------------------------------------------|
B |------------------------------------------------------|
The slide from the 6th to the 5th fret could also be played using halfstop - full lowering on the second string 5th fret.
