Key of G, E9 tuning. "R" raises 1/2 tone. "L" lowere 1/2 tone. Words and chords at the bottom of each line of tab. If you to vary the arrangement, try replacing chords on strings 3,4,5 with 3,5,8, and chords on 4,5,6 with 4,6,10.

If any of you guys ever play at an Elk's Lodge dance, you had better know this tune. No matter what time of year it is, they always have an 11 o'clock toast at 11:00pm. At that time they have a short ceremony in honor of their departed lodge brothers. The band is then expected to play Auld Lang Syne.
This is a nice, simple arrangement that is easy to learn and memorize.

Jeff - You are absolutely "da Man"..!!
Lee - Not unlike you - I've played a few of those 11:00 PM 'toasts' to Elk brothers no longer with us. Always kinda bumbled my way through this song - but NOW..... WOW...!!!
Truly a soulful arrangement...! (I actually got a little teary eyed)

I don't need the tab, been playing that song for about 60 New Year's Eves.
However, very nice of you to tab that for all the guys and a good job. Tell me, how do you get it on the Forum like that.?????
Do you write it all out first then scan it and send it? or what?
With Christmas coming up, I could tab out "Winter Wonderland" for C6 but it would work on any 6th tuning, just be in a different key......al |

Always thought that thing sounded like a death march......
I detest haveing to play it and most of the time, I try to get the guitar player to do it.

You're not crazy or nuts!. But play the thing on steel. You'll be a hero and the folks won't be crowding around the guitar player. You'll be "boss" "hoss". The only reason it sounds like funeral stuff is that most music the Scotch people put out sounded like that. Ever set through a 2 hour bagpipe recital. I have once!...Regards.....Fred |

I wanted to bump this tab from last year about this time.
I went on a search for tab for this song. I got the Full Circle Sound rhythm track and this was the first song in the set. The track is in F...so the transition is not a problem.
Jeff posted this nice version of this standard last year. I thought it might be worth repeating. |
