Hey guys. I have my girst steel lesson Oct. 3, and I need to know how to read tab. I read the Number system and read sheet music, but I've never tried to learn this. Could someone show/tell me how? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks

being new psg my self. your knowing number system and able to read music is plus in your favor. i have problem with timing using tab unless i can hear how it should be played . tab is easy to learn you pick correct strings while holding bar directly over the fret that,s shown . if theirs pedal letter after fret number you play that pedal down. also theirs chords where you may use combination of A & B pedal then slide to another fret position while rocking your foot off either one or both. and that,s what makes learning pedal steel well worth effort for me. nothing else like that sound. but this just scratched the surface. you have knee levers that come into play also. i,m using dewitt scott deluxe pedal steel method to learn my way around on psg for E 9th . it,s tab written also you can buy cd that goes along with book . theirs alot of other tab material by others also. then theirs instructional videos to learn material from also. i,d back search tablature forum topics go to userinterlinks rebel web site of ricky davis. there you,ll find tons of psg tab. and some have audio clips that go along with them also. then theirs quiet few others that have websites posted also at end of their posts you can visit also. forums priceless for information and help. sorry i was,nt more detailed on reading tab. but you,ll catch on fast. you should get somebodys method on learning tab, if you don,t already have one. email any time if i can help. james |
