The complete solo and backup for Nightlife is in one of Herby Wallace's backup courses. It's well done and if you put this in your repetoire, you'll get the attention of the audience. Herby is one great picker.

Last Saturday night we had a guest guitarist/singer and he called out Night Life which threw me for a loop. I ad libbed thru it but our regular singer said we would work it up next rehersal. I saw this post just as I was going to do a search and since I wanted the Right Stuff, I went to Ricky's site and last night it took a little while to get those wide gaps down right but at least I had the correct positions. Thanks for the tab Ricky, I enjoyed it !!
BTW; do you have any suggestions as to which pick is used for the single note entries into each wide gap chord ? I have a old broken injury to my middle finger and it's not as agile as it should be. It seems harder to get the wide gaps if I use my thumb or index for the entry notes. Would the middle finger be the correct one to use ???

I'm sorry Paul...I did answer your question right after you posted it; but some reason it ain't up here......ha.
It is recommended to use the middle finger on that entry line to those strings 3;5;8 grip...simple because you don't want to be stumplin' over a finger or thumb to grab that grip if you use your index or thumb for the chromatic walk up with 3rd string.
You can however master any combination of pickin' and grabing.....as you "can" get used to anything and do it successfully...but the lagistics of doing it as described is the most effortless less hand movement way.
Work on that middle finger.....especially after an injury...one needs to pay more attention to it to become back to normal flexiblity and agility......and you won't be sorry you did.
I've always been a thumb/fore finger picker for many years..but until I made myself practice with middle finger....is when It opened alot of doors in my finger coordination...and finally made grips and different combination pickin' much easier.
Have fun...and glad that tab worked out for ya pal.

Herby Wallace has a C6 tab in the (original)
key of D.
I haven't learned it yet, because I made the
mistake of puting it in my "music room" and
I haven't seen it since.
Order it from Herby, you'll be glad
you did.
