What's the highest price that anyone knows of a Frying Pan selling for? Is anyone willing to admit to getting one at an outrageously low price?

I believe one sold on ebay about a year ago for $5,000. I can imagine a unique and/or mint condition one going for more than that.

The tone control is an add-on from what I can see. The tone control was an option on some later guitars, but don't think this is factory installed because it's not symetrical with the volume control, it's closer to the strings than any I have seen.

Bill ... that was the first thing I noticed on that one ... bet it gets in the way.

Aftermarket ... or "Shop slop" ... maybe the drill press operator was hung-over that day

All of the tones that I have seen are usually offset towards the nut alittle ... with alot of variations in the exact placement....
