Buddy, On the Song Different Kind Of Flower off the Reunited album, how does one get the lick right after the line that goes:She was a different kind of flower, Nothing like my country clover,(insert lick). Also the intro would be fun to learn also. I know it's been a long time but I thought you might remember. Thanks, Craig

Craig,
I know you were asking Buddy this question but in case he doesn't answer, I think I can help you.

1-------------------------------
2-------------------------------
3-------------------------------
4---------------8~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5-------------------------------
6----------8~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
7-------8~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
8-----9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
9--10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10------------------------------

This is what I hear, as you pick each note, let it ring while sliding the bar back and picking the next note. Let that one ring, while sliding back and picking the next note, etc. etc. Each note gets one beat.
Dale Thomas has a lick on his CD that I figured out that is similar to this but carried out about 4 times further. If you'd like I can explain that one too, although it would really help if you had a copy of it to listen to. Also JayDee Maness uses a variation of this kind of lick on the Bakersfield Bound CD in the song It's Not Love (But It's Not Bad). There is also another variation of this sort of lick that I use (and overuse) a lot. I love these kind of licks. They kinda bend your ear a little before resolving and I like that. Now Buddy will probably come along and prove me wrong, but oh well, I tried.
See Ya,
Dave Alfstad

This is the original way which makes notes 8, 9, and 10, a little better positioned for the slide into notes eleven. Same harmony, better position for speed.
