Topic: Deep Water Key Change |

In the "Deep Water" on Asleep at the Wheel's "Tribute to Bob Wills" CD, the steel starts out in the key of A and does a change to the key of F for the vocalist. Does anyone know a good way of transitioning from A to F on the C6 neck?

Though I haven't heard the AATW record (I know... shame on me  ), I think you could probably just switch keys without a chordal modulation phrase since both A and F share the "A" pedal tone.
Going from A (tonic key) to F (flatted 6th) key is a common change in country music and swing music. Examples would be Four Wheel Drive by Big E, Texas In My Soul by many artists, E.T. Blues by Buddy Charleton, and I'm sure there are others. |

Thanks Herb for the response. I'll try the direct approach. I originally thought maybe I could just drop down from the 9th fret to 8th with pedal 6 to 7th with pedal 6 to get to the C chord which might fit like the 5 chord in the key of F. I sure wish I knew more about music theory. I am rather new to PSG and have so much to learn.
