I am on my way to surviving another year.
If I survive another year, I hope to be
able to approximate Billy Bowman's famous
'Amirillo'. It has eluded me for many a
year. If I can't find the tab, I'de at least
settle for a couple pointers, ie, the neck,
the open unison strings, and the bar tip
position at the beginning. Thanks
Clarence E. Wilson

Hey, Is the "Midnight in Ol Amarillo"?
If so I'd like to see that too...

Is Bobby Bowman related to THE Billy Bowman?

I was to lazy to look it up(the sp), but
knew as soon as I sent the request that it
is (Midnight, etc)

As far as I know, Billy Bowman was from
Johnson City, Tn. and died about 91. He is
famous for 'B Bowman Hop, to steel players,
as well as Midnight in ole' Amarillo. He
did 'Little Quoquette (sp)', the last time
I saw him at St. Louis, shortly before he
passed away suddenly.

Once on the forum Bobby stated No, he isn't related. I have the three tunes I mentioned
somewhere in my collection, all by Billy.

I think the tab is in one of Emmon's Swing Series courses. Lots of open string work as I remember. Great tune.

I got busy today and sent for Buddy's tab
for the 'We're Steel Swingin' tape at the Emmons site. I also got the original tape
out and listened. Worth every penny of the
25.00 bucks. I forgot to order Ray.s latest
tape of the 'swinging' series. I'll do it tomorrow. I have all the rest of them.
The tab will do what I want...to learn the
basic. I can't copy Buddy, but I'de like to copy Billy Bowman someday.

Thanks

clarence,

you can do "midnight" on e9th using a&b pedals down or on c6th using the 7th pedal.
all the beautiful open strings on either tuning.
