Try just getting a new nut (Stewart has all kinds and sizes, I was in a hurry one time and used aluminum strip for a Supro), then cut to fit your neck (hacksaw- borrow one, be nice to the ex), then get a set of very small files (under a buck or 2 or get friendly with the ex again and use her nail files). You should be able to mark the string spacings and then use the same file to get the string grove the width and depth. I have done this a couple of times and it turned out fine.

Hi Guys I"m new to the forum. In regard to the round neck to Hawaiian, it's no big deal, put the nut extender on it and go for it. Most people in the old days (me included) just added the extender on an old spanish guitar and played it that way. I picked up an extender from Stewart-Macdonald guitar shop (stewmac.com) for someone else recently, so I know they have them. regards Bill Creller

use a bone Dobro nut...and it isn't competely neccesary, but a round STEEL bridge (like a Weissenborn)...would vastly improve sustain...also a set of heavy gauge strings...get ready to tighten up the old truss rod...just don't break it!!!!(I have...don't laugh)
