Is anyone familiar with George's guitars, and instruction material? The intructional stuff seems pretty cool, very modern, all in CDROM formate and for the C6 chromatic tuning. Any comment appreciated. |

I live in the same county as this guy. I've sent two E-mails to him and never got a response. I had some questions about the tone on his great looking steels, but now I've lost interest because of his silence. |

George's Boards are some of the Finest steels I've seen and played. George rarely is on the computer for e-mail....but you can call him.
George keeps himself quite busy.
I have played several of his guitars and can answer about the tone of certain ones if you want my advice/take on it.
I highly Recommend any thing that Man puts out....as I have high reguards for his genious building techniques......"two thumbs up" (oh hell.....15,000 thumbs up!!!) On the Georgeboard.

I've bought some of George's CDR's and they are good. I have been talking to him for the last 3 weeks back and forth on the e-mail. He always responds and has been very helpful answering my questions about tunings and steel playing in general. I'd recomend you check out his website and/or email him at georgeboards@lycos.com .

He doesn't always respond Brian. The fact he responded to you and not other's say's alot about how he does business. What your saying is he reads his e-mails, o.k., but he doesn't even get back to guys who live in the same town as he does? I'm not the only one. Yea, and I'm not the only one who noticed that he sets up his amp so he gets a way thin tone out of his steel. Listen to his sound samples. Now, I know a guy in Texas said he tried his steel, adjusted the amp and was impressed. But you can tell George for me, start returning all your e-mails and business might pick up. |

I know from communicating with George over the last two years that he's in this for love and not money. He's trying to make a high quality instrument. I believe his use of eBay as his primary marketing channel might be hurting his credibility somewhat. In any case, maybe he's out of town or didin't see your e-mail for some technical reason. |

Andy, the two E-mails I sent had some space between them. Plus, I wasn't asking to buy anything at the moment. I tried to tip toe around with my question so as not to offend him. I know people here in town who know him and I could easily have played phone tag with him, but I figured he's pretty busy. I was however disappointed not to hear from him. I did get my question answered from an outside source and have posted as such. |

Thanks to all who responded, for what its worth I've e-mailed George a half dozen times and got a prompt answer each time. I'm getting the Hawaiian course and will comment on it after I see it. He seems like a real nice guy and boy are those guitars pretty, but I guess I've never seen one I didn't like. Thanks again,
Regards to all,
Byron

I have an 8-string George Board (the 8th one made) in tiger walnut and maple! It plays as beautifuly as it looks! I have three of his audio/videos and they are very well done. Don't think you can go wrong with a George Board! |

As a new steel player, I ordered a couple of George's discs. He responded the same day and mailed them promptly. He even threw in some additional discs gratis.
I was unable to play them on my computer initially. I emailed for help and he responded the same day with the correct solution (download and install the quicktime player).
My experience with George was outstanding. George's service and responses were both timely and excellent.
