Hi guys. I saw this site a while back and was going to ask if anybody knew of it because I sent an e-mail to them about my Ricky SW which is totally different from theirs except for the long vertical nameplate which is the same.
Am I allowed to attach a picture of mine somehow?

Herb,
Pro Frets was here in Gainesville. Owner Mike Boulware frequently dealt in non-pedal steels. His mom and dad had been country musicians in N FL and even played in a dance band with Kayton Roberts. Mike's dad played steel a little too, which helped Mike get started in collecting and selling them. I bought my pre-WWII Ric Bakelite from Mike.
James "Tuck" Tucker, an incredible bluegrass Dobro picker from nearby McIntosh, had been Mikle's partner early on. Tuck hardly plays at all any more, but when he does he is still great.
Mike closed the store probably 2 years ago and we all miss it. It was a great spot for musicians to meet. He is still around town but not in the music business.
I don't think there is any connection between Pro Frets and this web site, except that it is possible some of the photos were copied from the old Pro Frets site.
FYI, Gainesville is definitely not part of the "Redneck Riviera." That's LA--lower Alabama. Mid-panhandle is called East LA.
Best,
Bob
