Jody:

I haven't seen him on for awhile either. I'm emailing you his email address. Why don't you email him and tell him we miss him.

I got an email from Ray over the weekend, with some tips on repairing my Bakelite Rick. Ray is a fine guy, and is alive and well. He has helped me a lot in giving me tips about repairing my little Panda.

Ray was really hurt by comments from a person on the forum concerning one of his post. He said he would no longer post. He does check in on the forum. I have encouraged him to post. Maybe you fellows can help me. CC

hey, ray--i want you to know how much i've appreciated the information you've provided me--on this board, and privately--about little rickies. i love mine, and feel that i know them better and appreciate them more directly as a result of things i learned from you. there are a lot of thick-headed folks in this world; i'd rather read what you have to say. you do what feels right for you, but be aware that your contributions are missed.

Hey Roy

In all honesty it probably wasn't you. More likely I'm the "culprit"... the last I heard from Ray was in an e-mail around the end of November in which he stated that he did not have the time to be putting up with "jerks like (me)" and would no longer be posting on the forum. I sent him a reply seeking resolution but did not receive a response.

I have made him something nice for the holiday season hoping to make peace (would anyone like to be the middle-person to kindly deliver it to him?), however, without some communication I fear it would only be taken as patronizing.

Aloha Ray,
You gotta lighten up ...life is short and your input is as valid as anyone's here...everyone has their gripes ( I ain't leaving myself out of the equation)....but giving up isn't the way...gotta move forward...this was/is always the place where we ALL can voice our opinions and nobody's going to agree all the time...we just have to respect honesty as Jody pointed out, even if we don't agree....everyone here cares and at the least let us know how you're doing...our group is small enough...don't let it get smaller...
Mele Kalikimaka to you and yours,
Mike

Ray has been kind enough to allow me, a total stranger, into his home to get his valuable insight to the steel. He has a great perspective and has helped me simplify what I should be trying to accomplish. He is also a no BS guy and knows the difference between players and posers.

Ray, don't forget your friends on the forum. We miss you and want you back. It is people like you and Jeff and mikey who aren't afraid to speak their mind that make the forum intersting. Regardless of the comments that have been made to and about each other, I think if the occaison were to arise that you might need some help, they would most likely be the first to stand up for or with you. To coin a well used cliche, "I may not agree with what you say but I will fight for your right to say it." Come on back and bring your toys and lets play some more. We luv ya!

Ray: Forget that guy, whomever he may be. Isn't it the rest of us who really matter to you and to steel guitar ?? You have participated in so many meaningful discussions on this Forum that you are recognized here. From the rest of these posts, you can see that we miss your input.
Don't let anyone or anything keep you from seeing that.

We lost Carl Dixon in a similar manner. I for one do not care to see it happen again. This isn't that kind of Forum. You and I have seen it a hundred times or more: How nice a person so and so is to be playing steel guitar and still talking to the rest of us. That is also so true of you !!

Regards, Paul

And Ted Smith...no matter what...all of us have the common thread of LOVING THE STEEL GUITAR AND IT'S MUSIC.....Playing,listening,building,learning...bottom line is the love of the INSTRUMENT, right? personal tastes aside...some folks like sashimi...some grits...no accounting for personal taste
