I've been chided for having the largest number of Ricks in my music room......and I'd never really given it any thought.
Got curious and decided to ask the question:
How MANY Ricks do YOU have? 6,7,8,or 10 strings; Bakelites prewar/postwar; FryPans; and whatever later models that might be out there?
This would be an interesting statistic. |

Now, did you REALLY allow that nice German boy to leave the area without translating all of that performance data and details about the Echolete that were printed in German? |

10 Rickys ... 5 pre-war and 5 post-war.
I also have two "modern" steels with Ricky "shoes".

One pre-war that I recenly purchased and it's about as close to mint as it gets. I just need to replace the tone pot. Anyone know where I can get a pot and octagonal tone knob.

I've got 3 pre wars and 2 post (bakelite 6's), a frypan, a double 6 console and daily regrets about the 7 string that Ray now owns.

Hey Alan, sure glad you're enjoying JB from way back when on the REAL OPRY!! There's no sound quite like it!
I could't recall if I'd sent you that tape and spent all morning doing it again for you.
Oh well.......
S-O-R-R-Y about that Jeff. It sure was nice of you to sell that one to me. I've enjoyed it immensely and it just goes to show all that you really are an unselfish, generous, charitable kind of picker.

| i've just the one, a "panda" from what i've learned here. couple questions for ray or whomever: 1) where will the serial number be? i just looked again, and can't see one. 2) can you proud parents post some pictures of your prides and joys? i'd really like to know more, and it helps to SEE what you're talking about. there's so darn many little subtle things about these. i realize it's eBay, but some folks there say pre-war this and post-war that, but from the photos, i think something's up. i'd also like to know--opinions (i realize)--the pros and cons of the differences. what difference does the wider pickup make versus the thinner one; what about the tailpiece as opposed to through-the-body; knobs on both sides or on one side. you know what i mean. let's elaborate here, please. i want to learn some more, and you guys could write the book, i suspect. |

2 pre war Bakelites and 1 Frypan approx 1931 to '35 vintage. All my Ricks are 6 stringers.
Other stuff consists of a Gibson EH185 6 string. Mullen D10 approx 3 yrs old, 2 Emmons D10 P/P. One is 1968 and the other is a 1973 lacquer with wooden necks. One 1961 Fender D8 Stringmaster and one Regal reso.

| As I said on the other thread, I have three of the carved body mid fifties D-8's and also an SW-8 single neck. They hit on a pickup design in 1931 that is still hard to beat. |

6 Bakelite 6's; 2 Bakelite postwar 6's; a Shot Jackson FryPan-8; a dbl-8 Rick wooden mdl from around 1965 with small pickups. |

No bakelites at this time--Ray has my one and only now. I'd like to find a prewar 7-string (wouldn't everyone). I do, however, have a very rare bird--a Rickenbacher Ken Roberts Model, ca. 1937. While it's not a steel, it's really cool with an extension nut played lap style. Kind of a hollowbody bakelite lapsteel! I understand there are only a few around. It may end up on ebay soon though (if I don't get talked out of it first), since I have to finace an upcoming acoustic guitar that I am having built--sure wish I could keep them all!
