Another thing to remember is, if your playing out live, not to the front of the house, don’t use a cabinet IR. Just use your speaker cabinet.

IR’s should only be used when you’re not using your own physical cabinet. IR’s are only for going direct to the PA, direct in the studio or practicing at home with the headphone Jack.

In my opinion, it’s also appropriate to use a cab IR if you’re using a full range, flat response (aka “FRFR”) cab. I would not use a cab IR only if I’m using a ‘guitar’ cabinet, which has limited frequency response.

I’m considering getting one of these as a backup for my Fractal FM3 which I use for gigs on guitar, eMando, and other instruments, but it could also serve double duty as a primary rig for pedal steel (the FM3 is kinda overkill for PSG …). From the demos I’ve heard, that’s a lot of tone and functionality for the price!

Here’s a clip I have that explains all the functions of the knobs on the ToneX. A big help.

Here's a video using the ToneX this past weekend with a band I was subbing with. It's a Standel preset that Joe just did. The video quality is not the best, but the audio is there.
