Anyone use an Evans amp for their pedal steel? I've been using Evans for a number of years and would like to see some different settings. I use Emmons push pull, one 1968 and the other 78, both cut tails. I want the clear Emmons sound, no distortion, traditional country only. I have an SE-200, SE-150 and the newer smaller cabinet size RE-200.
Just want to compare settings. I find on my RE-200, I have to use the warm input, as the hot input, is really HOT, very in your face ear piercing. But the warm is ok. Seems like I still can't get a clear non muddy sound out of the RE-200.

When I got my first Evans I had a big problem taming it because I had the bass up way too much. I tried setting it like a Peavey or Fender and it really didn’t work that way. If you call Scott at Evans and talk to him he is good about walking you through how to set it up the best for pedal steel. He gave me invaluable advice

My experience has been that Evans amps can be a bit bright sounding. I have found that using a bass speaker ( my preference is a 1502-4 BW ) really helps. Even then I never go past 1.5 on the treble.

Thanks all for the replies. I have spoken with Scott regarding the other Evans amps I've had in the past, I will call him now as well.
