Guys
Just wanted to get your opinion of having the black box on (or underneath rather) the pedal board. I've opted for the version I've seen here in the forums of mounting a small board directly to the back of the steel, which I love. I can noodle with all of the controls right there easily. I just picked up a black box and since there's no more room on top, and I also I want to be able to attach and remove the black box easily for use with other setups (elec and acoustic gtr), I've literally Bungie strapped it underneath the board. Thought about using some Velcro but constant attach/detach of pedals with Velcro ultimately leads to a mess with the straps coming undone. These Bungie cords actually have secured it pretty well,,, of course the cords will weaken too,, so I'll keep an eye on that.

Signal chain
marrs SD10 - SGBB - Peterson tuner - keely comp - VP - nux - NV112.

I actually haven't tried the BB into my NV112 yet, but going on the results I'm getting from using my Fender passport practice amp, I know it's gonna be good going into the nv112!

Question about my signal chain and close proximity of the BB to my other pedals.

1. I like to use my Peterson tuner as a mute button when tuning because I don't have my vp cutting completely off when rolled back. "Should" I be using the tuner out front the BB or is it ok just going straight through it like I have done here?

2. I've read the BB could cause some interference with other sensitive electronics due to high internal voltage. So far in this rig at home it's seems very clean. Have any of you used a similar setup and encounter noise issues at gigs? Could always just set it on the floor away from my pedals in those cases. But again, I LOVE having another knov to tweak with the Vari Z of the BB. Makes it so convenient there at the back of the steel.

Thanks!

Scott

Hi Scott, strange you should bring this question up as I had a related problem with my SGBB. I have a few pedals I run thru before the signal hits an amp. I got the same hashing noise thru about 10 different tube amps I have. I cleaned all my cables and got a special Styrmon power supply and no improvement. I was most unhappy till I figured out taking the SGBB out of the signal path was the problem. I had a HumX wall plug-in thingy and plugged my SGBB into it. Wow wee mother!!!! Problem solved. I even redid some circuitry in a amp I made to no effect to make the hum go away. Turns out the SGBB was the last thing on my investigation. Should have suspected it the first thing! I like your shelf thing for your pedals BTW.

I have 3 of the black boxes on 3 different make steels. I made a bracket that connects across the legs and the BB hangs on that several inches below the output jack. I haven't experienced any hum and I the BB output goes into a Boss DD3 then to a Goodrich L120 and on to the amp.
