I recently heard a new song by Randy Travis and was surprised to learn that another singer had recorded the vocals, which were then augmented with AI technology to mimic Travis's voice. The result is astonishingly similar to Travis's signature sound. This development raises questions about the future of the music industry. With AI capabilities advancing rapidly, it's conceivable that artists could select a well-known singer's voice and replicate it in their own recordings. Randy Travis reportedly gave his approval for the project and was pleased with the outcome. The increasing presence of AI in the recording industry is undeniable, with capabilities including songwriting, music generation, and vocal track creation. This technology has the potential to significantly impact the roles of musicians. The integration of drum machines and keyboard technology has already altered the landscape, replacing some live instrumentalists. As AI continues to evolve, its effects on the music industry remain to be seen. |

It would be cool to hear a modern album by gone artists like Frank Sinatra of course with approval of their estate and disclaimers so there's no doubt or forgery.

I'm not sure if Dave was looking for a link to this topic, but I thought I'd share it anyway. I find it fascinating. Like any emerging technology, AI in the music industry has its pros and cons. While it has the potential to bring about groundbreaking innovations for the greater good, it's inevitable that there will be downsides. Ultimately, the impact will depend on how it affects individuals.
