What is the best pickup for PSG? I think mine is bad. I get distortion no matter what I do. What do you all think it is? I've adjusted for clipping but it doesn't make any difference.

Do other instruments sound fine through the same amp and speaker at the same settings? Bad pickups more often cut out entirely than go ratty, even badly microphonic pickups rarely distort badly. You don't provide any identification or history for you guitar or pickup so there are limits to providing useful advice.

As for "best pickup for psg" there are quite a few options and they are all "best" for someone, the question is what do you want from a pickup, other than it not distorting?

Dave,
Thanks for responding. I will try another guitar through it. Can't believe I didn't think of that! That should narrow it down.I may do a followup to you tomorrow if thats ok.

First thing I’d try is lowering the pickup.
