My dear old LeGrande is twenty-four this year and, over those years, she's played thousands of gigs, tours and shows.
Now she and I have retired, it's time she got some remedial work done. The original 'boards were looking a bit tired.
I'm very pleased with the result; chrome-on-black lookls better than white, in my opinion.

Roger:
Those fretboards look like a “NEW” Cadillac! Hope these new remodels motivate you to keep playing from now on! Please guide me to the builder that can refurbish mine on my D-11.
Respectfully

Even finding these standard 10 string ones wasn't easy. Had Jim not had them, I was at a dead end. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

In the process, I unhooked all the strings, then put them back afterwards.
Now, I'm struggling to get in tune, and I can't find my tone!
New fretboards couldn't account for the tone issue, surely?
Perhaps I'll change the strings. I kept them, because I only put them on last week. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

My days of setting up under tricky lighting are behind me!
Nothing is expected of me, but I just got through Hill Street in Eb on E9th - I did, however, play it without that light being switched on. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

They are great and beautiful until you get in a certain type stage light that reflects off the chrome, then can’t tell where you are. Had happened to me twice so now just got black and white like old fret boards now. _________________ Henry Matthews

My gigging days are behind me, Henry - now, it's all just aesthetics!

Thanks to my friend Bud Vanderberg, I have been able to restore the logo to the pedal bar.

Where did you get these, and are more available? I'm doing the exact same thing on my main Emmons SKH. _________________ "You call that thing a guitar?" |

Very nice, a black Emmons and a lake placid blue strat... the best colors for each! (objectively speaking) |

I got the fretboards from Jim Palenscar.

PS Where's the LPB Strat? Not visible in this pic, surely?
Oops! Yes it is - I see it. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Looks great Roger but like Henry says stage lights change things a lot. Your OKIE friend J.R. Merry Christmas. _________________ NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose |

I think so too, JR: the chrome matches the rest of the hardware on the guitar.
As far as stage-lights are concerned and as I've previously stated, there'll be no more tours, shows or theatre gigs for me so I can make my steel as fancy as I like!
PS: Aren't the new Resounds fitted with chrome 'boards? _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Roger,
I’ve kept some chrome fret boards for the time when I’d retire and play in my room. While touring I had experienced the lighting issues that Henry and others have stated. But I like the look of them and will be installing some in 2025. Your axe looks great 👍 _________________ RETIRED

Marty: Thanks!
I love so many aspects of being retired (although I keenly miss interacting with other musicians); I can please myself, even switch pulls on a whim, and work on whatever I want.
And the load-in is a breeze.
