Topic: Carter pieces needed |

Hello all-
It's been a while....life happens.
Anyway, I recently picked up a Carter Starter,
but it's just the body of the guitar.
It's missing the legs, pedalboard, pedals & rods.
(I have no idea why these are missing)
So I'm in the market for these items.
I know these aren't the best guitars,
But oh well. Thanks in advance! |

Mercy Me! I'm not going to ask why you bought a pedal steel missing all these parts, especially a Starter. I hope someone didn't take your advantage.
I'm afraid finding all this is going to be a problem. Plus cost you more than buying another complete guitar like say, a basic GFI, Justice etc.
I wish you luck with your search however and wish you success on re-visiting the pedal steel guitar.
Cool old Buick too.
FWIW, I have several styles of assorted good used pedals I would be willing to offer you n/c but they would have to be matched to an axle which would have to be mounted to a rack.
I'm sure you are looking for the original parts, but you're welcome to these if you want 'em. |

I bought the body pretty cheap, and thought I might be able to piece it back together. I have no idea how a PSG could wind up missing all these parts, but it wound up in a second-hand store in Phoenix.
Nothing else, I can part it out....
I may take you up on the pedals & things, but will see if I can find anything out there.
I also have an MSA Semi Classic, but it only has one knee lever, so I'm in the process of adding a second one. I also have a Sho-Bud Professional, 1972 I believe. That's my baby!  |

I see. Those parts might be floating around somewhere just waiting to be found. Be sure and search the online sellers.
I don't have anything for the MSA, but if I can help you out on the Carter, lemme know. I have a bunch of pedals but I don't think any of them are like the originals.

The pedals and pedal rack on a Starter are pretty simple, the rack is just an piece of wood, pedals are just aluminum channel ~1"x 1/2"x 1/8", attached with hardware store brackets and spacers etc. Pedal rods are standard, with standard quick release ball joints, the legs could be the only tricky part, but it may work with standard 1/2-13 thread adjustable legs. Jerry's right though, don't spend too much on the parts. Even when complete and fully functional it's only an ~$800 guitar. If you search the forum you'll find plenty of pics for guidance, like these:

a lot!!
I'll probably make my own parts. I've been a gearhead
all my life, so it should be fairly simple.

Al retired and sold his Carter inventory to Michael Yahl some time ago.
