Could I possibly get a copy of the tab book for the "Best Of Music To Get C6th By"? Maybe for a donation or fee?
Thanks in advance. |

Posted 3 Oct 2024 7:10 pm I am looking for any material by Jeff Newman
|
|
As a new player, I have watched all the Jeff Newman material on you tube that I can. I cannot find any of his material for sale. Jeffran college does not seem to exist and his family no longer seems interested in selling his material. Does anyone have any material for sale. I would like using the F lever and really any material that anyone has that they would like to part with.
I read this tread, and was wondering if there was any update or if the project was scrapped. If it was scrapped is any of that material for sale.
thanks, |

There are a lot of interested newbies that would greatly appreciate the lessons and or instruction Mr. Bradshaw has preserved. Nothing is for free as we all know. I would donate to the forum or any charity that they listed to possess a copy for learning. I am 68 and not much “Hand to Hand “ material like Jeff’s as I have been told. I use Jeff’s E9 tuning on the istrobe iPhone 15 pro max version Peterson tuner which is a great tuning with sweetener. Not trying to butt in on anybody’s business or Library, just trying to get better at playing pedal steel guitar. Great job of saving a lot of people from getting scammed by this person which is a miracle within itself of just getting the word out to us.

I have a bunch of the basic Newman material, but I'm a pick blocker. It's not much good to me. Let me know if you'd like it. I can send it to you, then you can Venmo me the shipping which shouldn't be much. I'd just like to pass it along. I'm in Nashville, so maybe you could just drive on over and pick it up.

Is the "Star Tracks" available with rhythm tracks available? I would like to get those if possible. Even for a donation to the forum, or to whom it would be due to. Thanks in advance. |

Kenny & Others: As the opening paragraph of this topic reveals, Jim Reynolds and I will not sell any of the Newman courses. We could be sued if we did so. We only assisted those who could show proof that they purchased them from the seller (at that time), who then failed to ship the courses that they ordered and paid for.
Our primariy objective was to preserve all of Newman's courses until such time as they might become available again, through our efforts to purchase the rights to them or the Newman family chose to make them available again for purchasing from them. We only succeeded in the preservation goal.
My offer to purchase Jeff's "library of courses" from the family was rejected outright, even before a price offer was made. Should a purchase become a reality at some future time, or the family chooses to make the courses available, all here on the Forum will be notified. ...Tom |

I guess we all three agree to disagree? You guys idea, you guys call. What an unavailable use of very good information that many could hopefully advance their skills utilizing the Jeff Neumann files?
Maybe something’s wrong with them and I then fully understand. I also approve of your replacing “purchased” files that never were or weren’t intended to get to the end user per my information on this project. “The right thing to do”! I applaud capitalist helping capitalist!
Now back to the point that started this post:
Would you entertain the idea of handing a copy of the files to a person that could distribute them for a fee, and actually get sent to the end user for years of educational and enjoyment of learning to play Pedal Steel Guitar?
There is something missing here within the confines of small black print. I think I know the reason for not interested in advancing such important files and I bet I am close? I know Mr. Bradshaw has his plate full and not enough time nor interested in hiring labor to get this task going? I don’t know the other individual but I will guess the same problem keeping the other partner from advancing the Jeff Neumann files? Right or wrong it doesn’t matter. As a beginner at 68 I was hoping for a different outcome to present itself as offering the files to an end user and yes there will be profit gained in any capitalist plan, once in a while yield to a 501C corporation which are needed in different walks of life but not this project.
In closing, I don’t mean to be a negative person nor would I ever plan such a scam as what already took place utilizing these files. It takes a criminal mind to commit criminal injustice to a very diversified and educated group who all Love the Sport of Pedal Steel Guitar. I just hate to see Educational Files held back from the masses that could and would utilize these files and in return our Sport would grow which is what we need now more than ever.
Dont take my post wrong or any level of it out of context.
I have never been for closing down a Museum, that held such important Data!
If I am wrong with the reasons and beliefs posted, I will apoligise.

I didn’t think I needed to bring up Attorneys which is a major turnoff to most people in today’s World. I have already received advice from my Attorney that handles major cases within the United States , State to State , Border to Border. And then some.
Again I am not trying to Butt in on a very suspicious direction this Jeff Neumann files case is leaning. My Attorney likes our chances based on the enormous impact of the word “Educational” pertaining to learning Data. I am a Fricking beginner that wants to own a single copy of the Jeff Neumann Lessons or whatever is available as to learning Pedal Steel Guitar. These kinds of cases with lockbox instructions is not the way us Musicians operate or agree to. As I said earlier there are 2 sides to every case and that is what I am after. The side I cant see, feel, touch or smell. Just getting started.

I can’t help but think.....Would it be possible to find someone willing and able to distribute Jeff Newman’s material and enter a contract with Jeff’s aire’s to financially compensate them with a percentage of the proceeds. I mean, who could turn down money they don’t have to work for?
I know the legal complexities and fee’s would be a hurdle to overcome, but there may be a chance. |

That is exactly what needs to happen!! They are good people and won’t settle with anyone trying to make oodles and gobs of money on their kinfolks Library! This is not a Used Car Lot as some negotiators probably think in that direction? I wouldn’t sell any of my kinfolks estate to just anyone either. I saw from the very beginning this was going the wrong direction but still don’t know all the facts. I was trying to help by selling the digital items to people like me that wants to learn, and then donate the rest to the Neumann Family and the Steel Guitar Forum,
Thanks
Jbm

??? Whatever happens to the Jeffran material is up to the owners of it...the Newman family.
Tom has made clear that his and Jim's purpose was to make those whole who had ordered and paid for Jeff's material but never received it. It was never intended to be distributed or offered for sale.
He stated he also offered to buy the material from the Newman family but was turned down.
So, that's the end of the story....unless the Newman family changes their mind.
You can still seek out Jeff's materials through other members or players who may be willing to sell their personal courses.
Sometimes comes up in the online stores like ebay and reverb as well.
There's other materials out there too. Much of it even more modern than the old Jeff stuff. Lots of people offering teaching materials such as Paul Franklin et al. You just have to do your due diligence and seek it out.
There's all kinds of free stuff on youtube. Things that players of my era would have loved to have gotten their hands on.
If anyone feels they're entitled to all this education free of charge...I dunno where that comes from. This stuff is a commodity, a product same as anything else.
If you wanna play, you gotta pay. |

Jerry you are so right. I think many of us steel players feel somewhat nostalgic when it comes to the Jeffran courses. Much like the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, we don’t want to see it disappear with the passage of time. Alas, some things are inevitably bound to meet their fate.
Like you said, there are courses available that more than adequately replace the Jeffran courses. |

I hear you Dan. I'm a Jeff disciple. I spent many years, starting in the mid 70s studying with him and his material. It helped make me the player I am today. Wouldn't be the same without it.
I don't want to see it disappear either, but it's kind of out of our hands. |
