This is a Valco made 6 string lap steel that partially used the National New Yorker body design. The upper portion of the body has the traditional art deco shape, but the top of the head stock and the bottom of the body are missing the step downs and both ends have a rounded shape. My guess is Valco made this/these for a customer other than National (Sears, Montogomery Ward, a private Hawaiian school brand, etc.).

The string through pickup on this one is the rarer staggered pole design that incorporates an individual coil at each pole. Time wise, 1939-1941 (???). The body has paint wear and chips, the original tuners were replaced with a set of StewMac Golden Age Restoration (I do not have the original tuners), the original cable with 1/4 inch jack is in good condition, and the volume control and tone control both work cleanly. The wooden hand rest is also present.

I rather like the sound of this as is, but I will include a set of Rick Aiello NiBro magnets in case the new owner wants to super charge the pickup.

SOLD
