Topic: Can't Dial in Nashville 112 Amp |

I put the PF 350 in yesterday and the amp still sounds sterile and not warm at all, either to boxey (mids) too bright, or too muffled.
I do have the Fox mod but I think I'm too used to my Session/LTd 400's and now my stereo steel setup.
Again, the mid and shift controls are SO touchy on the 112.
Thoughts before I give up on this amp.

Not to knock Peavey amps (I've had my share) but the moment I played through a Quilter, I never went back.

Try this Bob:
Low: 2-3'oclock
Mid: all the way left
Shift: 800 (2'oclock)
High: 3 1/2 to 4
Presence: use for clarity in highs usually 4 1/2 to 5(this controls the highs clarity)
Master gain up to 9
Pre gain for volume for room you're in.
Reverb normal for amp sound in room(5 or so)

With my Franklin with Lawrence 710's NV112 either stock or with the chip mod or with a neo speaker I set it about the same:
Bass: 2 to 3 O'clock
Mid: 800Hz and -2 to 3
Treble and Presence 1 O'clock
FWIW, I had a Session 500 and a 1996 NV400 with factory tone mode and the EQ on those were the same as the NV112. |

Same as Jack for me. I set my NV400 pretty much the same. I have a Carter with BL XR-16 on E9 and BL710 on C6 (soon to akso be an XR-16.

I would never had thought to turn the mids all the way down but that cured the honkiness!
Can you explain the difference between the gain and master controls?

You're more than welcome my brother.
The Shift regulates overall Midrange and there is already way too much Midrange in a pedal steel; so dial down mid to no more than 7 o'clock/off and the shift to 2 to 3 o'clock keeps it there-(more towards Bass side).
The Master sends the Power FIRST, from power amp; then the pre-gain sends the volume from it; so the more you have the Master up; the cleaner the volume is..and visa-versa..if you have the Master power send lower; then the pre-gain sends a more limited Master power there for more dirtier sound.
The whole eq system is based on "tone sweep" that shift sweeps towards Bass and back towards Midrange and you dial in the amount of Bass you want and the amount of mid that you want. Same for HIGH end. The Presence is the sweep of how much Highs you want for clarity or for ear piercing BITE!!! ha...that's why for pedal steel you start you highs down away from piercing bite and sweep the high clarity with presence and you have "PRETTY" sounded clear highs...
This EQ system is also in; LTD-400; Session-400; and Nashville-400 and many don't really know how to use it; but we all get really close to what we want to hear...but knowing this sweep system will help with TONE in all the way-different situations and model steels we play ....yeeeeehaaaaa....Have fun.
OH and I'm a Fender Twin guy for the last 25 years...But I started with learning about these Peavey amps way back in the day and guess what? I'm BACK to Peavey; I now play through my Fav. of all of them...is the 1977 LTD-400(w/round chrome knobs) with JBL K-130 Speaker(alnico mag)....I LOVE IT!

| I basically use the stock speaker and go through a pro fex II, with an Emmons 65 effects setting on my LeGrande II. Thanks Ricky, I will have to try it .what would recommend the pre gain on the 112? |
