Hello Steelers,

I've been teaching a lot of beginners and I'm trying to come up with ways in which practicing scales are fun for students. To me that usually means ideas, licks, or phrases that you can use within the scale framework. So, I've come up with a lesson on how to harmonize strings 3 and 5 over a G Major scale plus a coinciding etude with a backing track to practice some of these moves and ideas! Tab included for both.

Strings 3 and 5 are a treasure trove of ancient steeliness from "Together Again" to every George Jones Ballad there ever was. They are a great string set for maximum weepiness and steel expression. Check out these lessons to learn how to use this harmony.
