Over the years I have used Steeltronics pickups for many of my clients in repairs, rebuilds and restos, both as per clients request, and my recommendation. I have used them in some of my personal guitars too. The products and customer service have always been exemplary. I recently asked Scott to do a restoration on my Bruce Zumsteg single coil pickup that was original to my all time favorite guitar, my 1984 Zumsteel D-10. The guitar sounds great with many pickups, but I wanted to keep the guitar "as built" by the master, and sounding as fantastic as it always has. Scott delivered in spades (of course) with attention to detail and outstanding workmanship. The pickup sounds and looks perfect, with speedy turn around time, and an extremely reasonable price. I continue to be a real fan of the company and the proprietor. Kudos to Scott and Steeltronics.

#2 for Scott and Steeltronics! I have several of his original designs, and he has rewound umpteen pickups for me and my friends. He is a pickup wizard, and his attention to detail is unmatched. Reasonable pricing too! _________________ Tommy Detamore

Yeah -- I'm a fan here. My bud Stu wanted a Z in every steel he owned and I put them in. He & I both ordered one of the early Z's at the same time. A brilliant pickup.
I recently had an excellent dealing with Scott as I provided the exact specs so he could make a replacement pickup for a client's Jackson Maverick with an absurd custom-shaped cavity. We discussed the client's wishes (he wanted a humbucker to replace the single coil and he wanted 'darker'). The new pickup dropped in perfectly and it provided the sonic color the client was seeking. Scott himself was happy enough with the pickup that he added it to his product listing.
Steeltronics is an outstanding resource.

I think Tommy D turned me onto Scott, he's rewound a couple of old Emmons PUs, and the service and attention to detail are off the charts. When I told him I wanted that first old Emmons PU rewound, it wasn't just a simple 'How heavy ya want it?' question. He asked for a lot of details about what sounds I liked, what I'd used before, etc. before even starting the work, and absolutely nailed it. He cares, highly recommended. _________________ Lost Pines Studio

Damn straight. Scott suffers my stupid questions all the time, carefully explains the answer/solution (always has the answer), and actually still talks to me after I do it to him over and over. _________________ Excel Superb D10, Sarno Black Box or Freeloader, Goodrich L120, Boss DD5, Baby Bloomer, 1965 Super Reverb chopped to a head, feeding a mystery PA cab w/ a K130.

Add me to the list of satisfied SteelTronics customers.
I had a Wallace True Tone in my GFI. It sounded great but the pole pieces didn’t line up with the string spacing and that always annoyed me. I finally bought one of Scott’s single coil pickups that was spaced for a GFI, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked the tone even better that what I was getting with the True Tone. |
