Apologies if this is old news to some of you. I had not seen it.
I've been watching a lot of this '82 trip to Japan where Buddy Emmons played steel in the clubs and particularly this one playing with that superb Japanese jazz band. Following that, there is a video of him trading off with 3 Japanese Pedal Steel players.
Emmons on one of Mitsuo's Fuzzy D10s. This man was a genius.

Thanks Jimbeaux. I'm glad it was not wasted. I had not seen it either and I figured there must a few others who had not.
You are so right Larry. Glad you guys enjoyed it as much as I have.
IIRC, Buddy wrote the Blue Jade for this 1982 Japan trip. |

| That video has been around for a while but always great to see again as it clearly shows BE's Master's Technique... Hand position, vibrato, etc. Somewhere out there in "internet land," there's the video of the whole performance .....with many more songs. Thanks for reminding everyone of the video's existence. |

Yessir, class all the way. The Japanese are first rate at about every thing they do. Notice how Buddy is out front with plenty of space around him with the band behind him.
All the camera shots and angles are just beautiful.
....and that band. Musta been a real treat for him to have them playing with him.
Just spectacular playing on that Fuzzy. Guess those chrome BL705s didn't hurt none. |

Wonderful!
Back in the mid-1970s, while in college, I played drums in a band like that. It was so much fun, even though there were times I was in over my head on some tunes!
I'm guessing someone took the time to arrange the songs and write out all the parts for Eb, Bb, C instruments, along with treble clef and bass clef parts.
Lots of work.
