My Deluxe suddenly after a string change started a nasty buzz on the first and second strings. I have again replaced the offending strings, put a leather shoelace onder the strings where they come out of the tailpiece, taken the pickup off and checked the nuts holding the pu on for tightness. Pressing on the strings behind the bridge does nothing. Resting my hand on the trap cover does very little to stop it. The guitar does not need to be plugged in to hear it. Any body got any ideas? |

Get a flashlight and look to see if the bobbin is collapsing … they fail often … they are just shellacked card stock. If it is … I’d suggest contacting Nick Fryer , he 3D prints new bobbins and winds them … http://fryerguitarpickups.com

I am not a technical Fender guy, but I have a double console with the trap pickups. I had the same problem with the string buzz. This was a couple of years ago. There was a thread, I believe on the forum about this issue around that time, very informative too. I looked through the trap pickup and seen the outer covering of the pickup almost bent looking hanging down on the strings, looked almost like cardboard. I took a Q tip and successfully pushed the bent area back up. It worked and so far it has stayed there. Might give that a try. I really need to have my pickups serviced-but they still work great. |

Thank you Duane. Have just been in contact with Ric Aiello who explained how the cardboard caves in or shrinks inside the case and jiggles around buzzing. Going to check it out. Good luck. |
