There is an episode of the tv show Adam 12 that features a shootout in the parking lot of the Palomino Club. It has quite a bit of pedal steel in the soundtrack and I am curious to know who was playing on it? The episode is called Routine Patrol - The Drug Store Cowboys. |

Well, there are a number of “usual suspects” noting that episode is from 1974 meaning it may have been shot in 1973. Buddy Emmons was living LA in that era. However, Red Rhodes and JayDee Maness were at the Pal often. Some other locals were Pete Grant and John Badasio that could have done the deed. Maybe JayDee or Skip Edwards know for sure. _________________ Pedal Steel Guitar is "Music from Heaven" |

Thanks for your response John. The pedal steel is most prevalent during the scene that has the shootout in the parking lot. It doesn’t sound like Buddy Emmons to me, but it is interesting to note that he was living in LA at the time, so who knows. I was thinking it might be Jay Dee Maness or Doug Livingston. Hopefully someone who knows the answer will see this post and let us know the answer. |

I'll ask around. Do you see anyone in the shoot, or is it just audio? JayDee or Doug would be my best guess. What year did that episode come out? If it's an early episode, it may have been Buddy or Red, or Sneaky Pete.
In other news, I just saw Al Vescovo backing up Florence Henderson on a Murder She Wrote. |

Hi Skip, the episode air date was in 1974. So, depending where in the season it aired, it could be late 73 or early 74. _________________ Pedal Steel Guitar is "Music from Heaven" |

Thanks for the response Skip. It was all background music, I don’t recall any scenes inside the club. Thanks for the heads up about Al Vescovo being on an episode of Murder She Wrote! I’ll look for the episode with Florence Henderson in it. |

Skip, I think I found the episode of Murder She Wrote that has Al Vescovo in it. It’s called Ballad for a Blue Lady, and it has Florence Henderson playing a Blues singer who is living in Nashville as the main character. She was in another episode of Murder She Wrote, but this one sounds like the one most likely to have a musical performance in it. It is Season 7 Episode 9. It also has Jimmy Dean, Mickey Gilley and Sheb Wooley in it. |

Yep, that's the one. Caught it last night actually, on Pluto. Didn't recognize anyone other than Al. |

Hey Pete…
“Comedy”… hah. I get it.
At any rate , people should avoid Jessica Fletcher like the plague.
Wherever she goes, someone gets offed… |

Bob -
The audio track could have been a different band playing than the one used in the shot at the Pal. _________________ Tim Harr
