Hi all,

Earlier this year I was looking around at console steel guitars and found a modern builder who does Fender stringmaster copies, but I've forgotten the name of the company/builder who made them. There's not a ton of info that I can remember, but I do know that they did single and double copies in addition to some amount of custom work. I've looked around but have not been successful in finding them again.

I did happen across one of their builds here on the For Sale section of the forum a while ago, and I believe it was a non pedal D10 with palm benders and no legs.

I'm hoping that another forum member might know the builder I'm talking about and could point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

I previously owned a Fender Stringmaster but these days play a John Allison S-8 console steel.

Although I love the inclusion of the blend control like on the Fender, I find the John Allison's configuration for that is more accessible having it on a knob instead of under the bridge cover, and I prefer the slightly hotter pickups. I also love that the styling is halfway to a National New Yorker. I would recommend them to anybody!

I think you might be looking for King Pin - not sure if he is still making, they -If memory - recalls were from the Carolinas.

Very nice StringMaster like.

He used to advertise on this forum, try the search function.

That would be Gary Rue in eastern Maryland. His website doesn't seem to advertise them anymore. Gary was nice enough to fabricate a body for me for some spare Fender parts I had. Pictured below. Very similar to a Fender Deluxe but slight differences. Gary's King Pin had nicer tuners than this one, if he's still making them. I might be selling this guitar soon and will list it on the forum first.
