Here's the situation:

Windows 10. Firefox browser. Both up to date.
Spectrum Internet.

I go to GoFundMe.com and I can't log in. I hit SIGN IN and it just hangs, goes no where. I try "forgot my password" and same deal, it just hangs with the moving dots.

HOWEVER -- if I open a Firefox 'incognito' window (not VPN) I can sign in successfully and uneventfully. But back in the regular browser window there is no change.

Things I've done:

I've cleared all cookies & cache.
I've run CCleaner.
I've deleted GFM from my LastPass and disabled autofill and manually filled the sign in boxes.
I've confirmed that I can log into a couple of other sites with no issues.
I've rebooted.

I see no indication on several 'down detector' sites of GoFundMe having issues.

I could live my life going to the private window in FF to do my GFM business (and very possibly Chrome will work too) but .... something isn't right.

Any ideas?

I had that same issue with Firefox awhile back.
In time I had to giving up using it.

IMO, there is more to these kinds of login issues than appears with a casual glance. I am convinced that certain users are on a censor list.

When I was blocked on Firefox, others could login from different IP addresses. I had similar experiences on other popular browsers.

The site I was trying to sign into is not music related. I is my own WordPress blog site. My content is the kind that typically gets censored, but I doubt yours is.

Still, internet censors are not that careful about who gets on the list.

These days I can login anywhere with the Duckduckgo browser.

I was blocked on Chrome also, as well as with some others.

Don't rule out foul play.

Hey, thanks James. Having found workarounds, I haven't really zeroed in on what's going on. I also have a few other things that no longer work in Firefox -- an Instagram video downloader program among them. But they work fine in the Duckduckgo browser (which I did install back around when I posted this.) And in the past Chrome has also been a successful option.

My hunch is that the issue is either a Firefox privacy/security setting or a FF extension or plugin that is acting up. If I took the time to disable things one by one I might hunt it down. But I've been signing in to Gofundme and other apps in a FF private window or in Duckduck so I'm functioning 100%, if with minor diversions.

When stuff like this happens I generally assume that I did something stupid, mindlessly and never to be retraced, and I'm dealing with the consequences. Clicking on some privacy option without considering if there might cause conflicts. Shrug. I never set out to understand this stuff.

I am more of an economist than I am a musician, although that has never been my preference.

Odd things happen when people get scared. Once people get scared, they become a market for any and everyone who assuages their fears. This is where the overkill in providing internet safety and assuaging fears of getting hacked comes from. Therefore, actually reducing internet fears never occurs because because that would put all of the safety providers out of business.

For myself, I don't even use Windows Defender, just passwords and nothing else. Most risk on the internet comes from Big Tech and they just do as they please with impunity.

Jon,

If you can login in safe mode or incognito mode I'd check and make sure your extenuation are up to date and are still officially supported by FF.

Other than that.. Something in security settings.

If things I need were inaccessible I'd dig deep to try to fix this but since my workarounds get me at what I need to get at, mucking with this stuff bores the crap out of me and I'm going to leave it be.
