JD Souther has passed, He was a great songwriter and singer, always loved his solo music and contribution to the Eagles and many others.
Herb Steiner played on Longbranch Pennywhistle with JD and Glenn Frey; I hope he can chime in on his time with them.

Slight correction on Craig's post: I did rehearse with Glenn and JD several times, but I never recorded with them.
Glenn was a fun drinking and getting high partner  . JD and I were closer, more like running buddies. He was Linda's amour du jour in those days, and I was recently off the Stone Poneys gig and working in hillbilly honky tonks in the LA circuit, so it was really just part of a social circle centered around the Troubadour.
Nobody had any real money, per se. Glenn and Henly were working as Linda's band by that time, pre-Eagles. I think David Geffen were subsidizing their existence, betting on future publishing bonanza. Which, of course, appeared big time after the Eagles happened. JD was a benefactor of that bonanza, as was Jackson of course.
This was around 1970-72, about the time I moved to Austin and left Hollywood behind.
