Recently aquired a nice 2007 Magnum Pro-Select SD=10.
Great guitar! Stays in tune nice, minimal cabinet drop, smooth action, decent tone, and light! 30 lbs., 48 lbs. on the case handle!
Curious as to how many of these long forgotten, highly underrated guitars are still in use out there.

I totally agree! After hearing your evaluation of the Magnums and seeing and hearing your guitar I knew I had to have one!
John Fabian and Bud Carter really knocked one over the fence with these guitars!

Hey John! Congrats...you have discovered one of the best kept secrets(?) or overlooked gem of a guitar. I acquired an SD-10 recently for an almost obscenely great price. After years of playing cutting-edge guitars of many makes I've wound up with a guitar that checks all the boxes. My "fave" guitar is still the Williams(had two) but due to health/financial considerations liquidated most of my primo gear. Like a cat...after a fall, landed on my feet. Really liking the "Mag"... a few "tweaks", like a humbucker p/u(L710) will make it " mo' better"! Hope you get to love yours as much as I love mine! Just another "vote of confidence". Regards,RK😉

Thanks John D. and Rick K. I agree that a good humbucker is a nice "tweak". I have tried several pickups in the Magnum over the years. I like the pickups that are currently installed: an Alumitone on C6th and a Telonics X10 on E9th.
I even like the powder coat finish on the end plates and pedal bar (never needs polishing)!

Magnums are awesome guitars. I like them much better than the Carter. The changer is different and the bell cranks are different. No dog bones. Look more like Legrand 14 hole bell cranks but think they have 11 holes. They play easy, stay in tune better than just about any guitar I’ve owned and for you people that worry about cabinet drop, it practically has none. The tone is awesome on them and I’ll compare to any other guitar. Another big plus is they are very light and I love the powder coat. Easy to clean and always looks great with little or no trouble. Been playing mine a couple years and that’s all I play. I’m probably going to be selling mine simply because I’m thinking seriously just quitting playing. Just no place around here to play anymore and I’m 80 years old so just thinking about retiring from music. I’ve got the old push pull if I did accidentally get a playing job I could use. Haven’t made up my mind yet but just wanted to put my 2 cents on the Magnum guitars. It now has 8 pedals.

Just installed this 705, marked improvement over the hum from 60 cycle that was going on.

My Magnum has the GeorgeL 10-1 on E9th and E66 on C6th. I’ve tried several single coils and I also tried the 705, both mainly for curiosity sake. I went back to what’s in it. They sounded better to my ears than anything I tried. If I remember correctly, the 705 was a little too bright to my liking and the single coil I tried I just didn’t like at all.
