This device came off my LeGrande years ago: I think it was for the E9 2nd string lower.
Pardon my complete ignorance, but I want to get a half-stop on my C6 MKV - it's raising 4 and 8 to B and I want to split the difference.
This sounds dumb, but how does this device get activated by the KL? I can see where it used to be - there are two screw-holes in the flocking in the middle of the guitar. How on earth do I connect it so it's relevant to my MKV?
Its old location is nowhere near the E9 2nd string: do I need a bell-crank to connect it to the relevant cross-shaft? _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

The half stop would be adjusted by the Brass Sho-Bud barrel.
Was there a Bell Crank for the half stop alone? Or was it attached to a Bell Crank being used by 1 of the pull rods.
You will need a Bell Crank, Attached to the cross shaft that you want the half stop on. The unseen end of the rod, (in picture, (The unseen end of the rod may have a L and slot for an E Clip). Needs to be attached to the Bell Crank, And the angle piece attached to the under body of the guitar with 2 screws.
The angle needs to be placed under the guitar, So it compresses the spring when engaged. And it is easy to get to the brass adjust barrel on the half stop, While sitting on your seat at guitar.
Good Luck on this project. Happy Steelin. |

No 'L', Bobby, just a rod without a bend at the end.
But I could use a four-hole bell-crank , either an early Emmons or a JCH style where the rod slides through the collar and is tightened by a set-screw no.
Thank for explaining the methodology. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

Thwarted!!!
The cross-shaft to which I need to connect the half-stop is one of those really short ones (it's my MKV on C6); it's only perhaps 3.5" long. It already has two BCs attached and, when I surveyed the surrounding landscape, there was nowhere to screw the device under the guitar's top. Every location (that would work) is taken up with KL mountings and the like.
'A bridge too far', as the saying goes. I'll have to half-pedal it if I just want the A#. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!
