A buddy scored this at a local auction. Looks like a National fretboard to me but after that I'm stumped. Anyone have any info about this thing??

Very interesting guitar. Having 6 pedals and no knee levers, Makes it very special, And dates it to the early days of first pedal steel guitars, Before KL's.
That COUNTRY emblem is interesting, Looks like it came off a vehicle, Piece of machinery.
Some very small stud screw holes for the legs. Looks like it may be some lap steel plays dream of a pedal steel guitar.
Good luck on finding the history of this guitar. |

| The nibbling out of the wood near the changer with a drill press (rather than a router) indicates a home brew. Pretty nifty looking guitar. |

It is.
It is either pulled from a National or copied from a National. |

I kinda wondered if that was a Fender pickup as well. Logical guess for sure.
Pretty sure the thought on the "Country" logo is correct as well. I couldn't find the exact Ford logo but the font matches. Maybe it's a glovebox or door emblem?
Going to try hooking it up tonight and see if it makes noise. I'm 100% sure my buddy will sell it so mainly trying to figure out what it is and make sure it works as good as it can before letting someone else have a turn with it.
