Can someone tell me what I can purchase to remove light scratches from the end plates of my beautiful pedal steel? I know there must b plenty of you who have purchased pedal steel guitars out there where maybe all you had to do to make it perfect was to buff out (someway or somehow?) some scratches on the end plates, maybe the body, maybe the front bottom plate that the legs attach too, what did you use?
I’m thinking maybe a small but powerful cordless buffer would do the trick…

Jeffery. Think of buffing as (micro-sanding). Best results work their way from rubbing compound to medium polishing compound fine compound to a swirl remover.
If you have a scratch you can feel, it would require
wet sanding first. Maybe 400 grit and the 600 grit. Avoid breathing the dust.
When I asked the late, great Fred Justice, what is the best way to buff aluminum, he immediately responded, "let someone else do it". RP _________________ Emmons SKH Le Grande, '73 Fender P/J bass, Tick tack bass, Regal high strung, USA Nashville 112. |
