When I run straight from the volume pedal to the amp, all is good. Put an effects unit anywhere in the chain, the white noise is terrible. It’s just as bad when using the effects loop on the amp. Has anyone here had the same issue and found a cure? Come to think about it, the same issue resides in a Steelaire Rackmount unit.

Sounds like it could be a bad 9v power supply on the effects. Have you tried it with battery power only on the effects unit(s)? _________________ All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest - Paul Simon |

Yeah, one pedal can do battery or power supply, the other is power supply only. I get the same noise either way. |

Roger, I have two of the quilter amps and have never had that problem either straight from the pedal to the amp or in the effects loop. It always sounds clear on both of my TT12s. You might want to give Quilter a call. |

Make sure the input switch is not on active pickup. Mine will create white noise on the active side. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

It sounds like the effects unit is the one introducing the white noise- especially if all is quiet w/o it. Have you tired it w another amp? |

Dennis D, I’m missing something here. I don’t see an active switch on either the 202 or Steelaire Rackmount. Where is it located? Jim, neither of the effects units create the noise with a different amp. I’m going to try it on a different circuit in case there is something in the room wiring that’s the problem. |

Roger, you're right! I got my tc electronic BQ250 amp mixed up with my Quilter. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

I've been having issues along those lines as well, and think it's related to too many gain stages with both amp and pedals. First, make sure your Master volume is on all the way, and amp Gain is dialed up only to get your playing volume. Next, of course, is if any of your effects have a "vol" or "gain" knob, try turning them way down. See if that maybe helps. It seems to help for me. _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

I have the same issue if I patch my pedal board into the effects loop, but if I put it between VP and amp input it is quiet. I suspect an impedance mismatch. |
