Universal Audio has a Digital Audio Workstation, DAW, available for both Windows and Macintosh platforms.

There are free and paid versions. The free version includes a few extra tools while the paid version includes many more tools and plugins. Learn more here: https://www.uaudio.com/luna.html

I haven't tried it but here are a few videos about Luna:

Audacity has one glaring deficiency that prevents the program from DAW consideration, it doesn't work with midi files. Many midi files exist and importing a midi song file into a song project can give you a big head start. Because midi is data, song characteristics like key signature, transposing and tempo are easier to manipulate in a midi file than audio.

I use Luna primarily and I really enjoy it! It does its best to emulate analog workflows, so if that’s familiar to you it may be an easier option than others. I have one of Universal Audio’s interfaces (Apollo x4) and together it’s all really a good experience.

IMHO, an even more glaring deficiency (unless they have recently rectified it) is that it does "destructive" rather than "nondestructive" editing. In other words, once you have snipped a piece of a file and deleted it, it's gone forever and you can't get it back. With every other DAW that I know of, you can very simply pull the edge of the file out and the entire rest of the original file is still available to work with.
