Coming in August, a new book call Modern Technique For Steel Guitar: Economy Picking
I've been developing this material for quite a while and am now ready to share my method.
This book is designed to introduce new ideas for single note development using economy picking techniques as well as offer solutions to those who struggle with conventional techniques. I think this can be an invaluable resource for improvisers and those whose are looking to develop their lines beyond what their current technique can offer. I am a practitioner of this technique and have integrated it with conventional technique.
The book is written for C6 tuning (8 strings) but could be adapted to your own tuning with a little effort, though a 6th tuning is essential. Non-pedal and pedal steel players could use the exercises, though it is primarily geared to non-pedal.
I am doing a limited first run of print books--I don't have plans on offering as an E-book at this time.

After speaking with my printer, I was able to lower the retail price of the book and have begun issuing refunds for the difference in all pre-orders.
The book is being sent to the printer this week and should have about a 2-3 week turnaround time.
Thank you to everyone who has ordered! _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Also looking forward to this one, Mike. I stated on another thread, "The proof is in the pudding." Your pudding is good, I'd like to see some of your recipes. |

I don't know if anyone has had a chance to check out Mike's video examples of this technique, but it's very interesting and exciting, especially if you are into sacred steel at all. |

I never made the connection myself about the technique Sacred Steel players use, but I can tell you that I am definitely able to achieve that sound to some degree with C6. I arrived at this the very long way around--about 5 or 6 years of fooling around with it.
One of the things that strikes me is how great this is for fast country playing--one of the arrangement examples I use in the book is my arrangement of Orange Blossom Special. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |
