I just ordered some Pyramid flats, I will update once they are on and played. Comments on them are good.

Hey Carl, I know it's only been a month but have you tried these yet? Curious about your results. _________________ Williams S12 Ext. E9 keyless, Williams S12 Ext. Cant say i really like them, I find them hard to stay in tune. Too much wrap at ball end interfers with tuning fingers at touching point causing overtones. Just my opinion. _________________ I have a Tele plus telecaster, Larrivee acoustic. In any case, I don't know what problem a flat-wound string would solve. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

In my case I wanted to just try a flat for the 6th. Over the years I have used .020 and .022 plains and .022 wounds on various guitars. I thought a flat .022, with a bigger core than the .022 wound, might strike a middle ground between the two. But I never got around to trying them, so it's still an open question. |

I have wondered about flat wound on a 12U.
On a 12 string the 9th string up are a little gritty at first with a new set of strings.
When I unpack a new string I pull them through a piece of 0000 steel wool about 5 times, Pulling toward the ball, To smooth the surface of the string to make the bar slide smooth and not drag on my hand and fingers. |
