I've listened to this over and over. I gotta ask....how do you get that sweet tone? I've tried everything I know to capture that elusive sound. 😩 |

Hi Jerry. As far as equipment, I’m using my iphone’s Voice Memo feature to record with. So nothing special there. I use the little Spark practice amp that I really worked out 5 different amp sounds (uploaded them to the cloud for a you to use).
A lot of tone comes from the player’s hands. Although there is nothing special about what I do.
Years ago, I experimented for days with different settings while recording, just to see what I liked and disliked.
I use a touch of chorus to fatten it up a bit.

Thanks for the reply Ron. Yeah, I've read your posts about the little Spark amp. Seems like a versatile one. I don't do any home recordings so I have no equp. there.
I have a couple of multi-fx rack rigs so the tool bag is not a problem.
Yes, I understand the importance hands play in getting good tone. I've been playing with the same hands for more than 40 yrs. so I guess I'm stuck with my technique although I feel like it's pretty good. I know proper execution is a big part also.
I haven't used any chorus for a while now, but I might try adding a splash.
I'm experimenting with some different eq settings as well, maybe a little less treble and moving around Mids and Bass.
I don't get any complaints from anybody about my playing...I guess I'm the most critical and sometimes feel inadequate when I hear recordings like yours. Thanxalot. JO. |
