Graham Griffith shared his personal recording of Billy Hew Len sounding fabulous ...
Quote: |
With permission, I made this audio recording on a Sony cassette recorder on a Monday evening in the Blue Dolphin Room of the Outrigger Hotel in Waikiki. In my conversation with Billy Hew Len, whose day gig was with Hawaiian Airlines, he told me to not give up my day gig to play music (I was a novice steel guitarist then)! I think the guitarist is Sonny Chillingworth but I don't recall Myra English (a regular at that venue with Billy & Sonny) playing with the group that night.
Billy was playing his stand up Fender pedal steel which you can see in the image from 30:18. |

Great post Andy. One of the greatest steel guitar legends.
Like the shot with Jerry playing rhythm. Must of been some great jam sessions around those days. _________________ Canopus d-8
