Anybody know the instrument or setup behind the rather unusual "dobro" sound on that tune?

You just might get to see the LloydBro when the Dixie Chicks perform on the CBS Saturday Morning Show 8/31/02

They were just on the Jay Leno Show and Lloyd was playing a Resonator(Dobro) and sounded great.
And how about the Dixie Chicks album going number 1 on billboard in the first week out.

Great disc. Hasn't left my CD player since I got it a week ago. And guess what... Not a single note from a steel guitar on this CD. Dissapointing not to hear PSG, but the CD is really that good that I don't miss it that much.

Richard,
It was produced by a Steel Player so that might be the secret of why it sounds like it does. I like it also and I'm glad to see it selling so well.

If I was Lloyd, I would have been chomping at the bit to throw some steel on that Cd. Lots of places that it would have shined, but it's still a great CD.
