I think Jerry gave Ray Knapp that guitar.
Ray knapp was from Ohio and you couldn't find a bigger fan except maybe Ray Montee.
After Ray's wife died , He moved to Maui and started working at The Old Lahina Luau, playing the Trotmore.
Jerry also gave Ray his gold Buick and Ray would roam Maui beaches and would collect single beach sandals and put them in the Buick's huge trunk.
He got a job playing steel on a cruise ship.
Every week, the cruise ship would dock on Kauai and Ray would get me on the ship to eat.
His wife, who he referred to as "the old battle-ax" had passed away and Ray thought if he got a tan, he would attract a mate, the he complained the the females were all "Newly wed, or nearly dead", but he fell asleep under that extreme Hawaiian sun and one day, when I met him to go on the cruise ship, patches skin that were exposed to the sun, peeled off and he looked like a leopard.
Ray was a lot of fun and played great steel.
I believe Jerry stopped playing Trotmore's because he had some problem with his endorsement, if I remember correctly. _________________ Excel 3/4 Pedal With An 8 String Hawaiian Neck, Sierra Tapper (10 string with a raised fretboard to fret with fingers), Single neck Fessenden 3/5

JB's Trotmore (JB 001 - the Ray K.) is owned by Jeff Kearns ... I had the pleasure of working on the pickup a few years ago...
As to not hijack this thread ... I'm trying really hard to get my kids to buy THIS Trotmore for me for Fathers Day ... 🤠|

If you poke around the forum and internet theres info on the provenance of this guitar. I dont recall all the details, but the info is out there for those who might care..story goes it was owned by a player who used a prosthetic for his bar hand. It had been painted with automotive paint to look like a wood guitar, and had the tone control on the top upper bout. It was ugg-leee...but I knew what was under all that paint. _________________ Steel Guitar Services:

The player who owned the guitar was Charlie Miller.
