Chris plays a 3x4 so clearly he wasn't satisfied with a 2x2.

My son Zane King has several demos on YouTube on his six string Jackson pedal steels..

The purpose of the six string 2 an 2 .

Simplify the time it takes too learn too play pedal steel especially for guitar players
That don’t have the time it takes to learn a complicated 10 sting pedal steel.

I've never seen any evidence that six strings make it any easier to play pedal steel over 10 strings. I can see getting six strings if you want a dobro tuning like Chris Glass, but I can't see it replacing a 10 string pedal steel for those who want to learn how to play traditional pedal steel. If you want to learn pedal steel, a 10 string 3x4 seems to me the logical first guitar to get. Wasting time on a six string will hamper progress in my opinion.

The S10 models are 3 pedals/4 knees, pull-release changer.

I agree with Johnie. The S6 2x2 is not geared toward the player who is ready to go all in on pedal steel. It does give a working guitarist a chance to deliver that sound when the occasion is called for with an instrument that has a recognizable tuning. Most of the requisite pedal steel technique would still be necessary to produce an adequate sound, so I don’t see how it could not be seen as a springboard to more complex setups if the player chooses to pursue them. It is also a great alternative to spending twice as much money on a used S10 for those on a slimmer budget, and there is nothing like a shiny new instrument to make you want to sit down and play it.

To anyone that owns one (Growler/ShoNuff)...does it have a 3 RAISE 2 LOWER changer?

The above is a very basic changer on any new steel available today.

Johnie had a bunch of Growlers in his shop last year. If he doesn’t pop back in here to answer you, just send him a pm. He’s a heckuva good guy and will tell you more than you need to know 😎

I can tell you that I have seen pictures of the Growler pull-release changer and I saw 3 holes per finger.
