Hello folks!
I was packing up my steel (a Mullen Discovery) into its case recently when suddenly a loose ball bearing appeared from seemingly nowhere.
The mystery ball bearing appeared right as I was disengaging the pedal rods from the pedal. Upon close examination I could not see how it would be possible that a ball bearing could escape from an enclosed pedal rod, still not being 100% sure that the pedal rod was the source but concluding that the ball bearing could have been part of the spring mechanism that is used to lock the rod onto the pedal.
Any suggestions or ideas as to where a ball bearing could have jumped from my guitar? I don't seem to have any sort of issue with my guitar's performance - and all of my rods still seem to function as they should.
Thank you! |

Get with the Mullen crew. They know more about your guitar than anyone. |

Check cross shafts for too much play side to side , if so the other one will fall out on the other side as well , the cross shafts may have a single ball bearing on each end for shaft end to ride on |

Thanks for the input.
I suppose I'll be able to see this when I examine my steel tonight, but I'll ask anyway: is this a pretty easy fix?
Thanks again, all! |

I'd be real supprised if that came from your Discovery. I assume you are talking about one ball from a ball bearing. In which case I suspect a solder ball spit off onto the bottom of your guitar while connecting up your electronics.
